Amy is a seasoned strategic thinker with seventeen years of experience analyzing the opportunities, successes and failures of organizations in a wide range of industries.
Before founding Upside in August 2006, she was a senior member of the corporate strategy team at a $10 billion North American energy retailer. In this role, she led a range of Board-sponsored strategic initiatives on such issues as Organic Growth Acceleration, Competitive Trend Analysis, Customer Retention, Acquisition Integration and Investor Relations.
The first decade of her career was spent in the highly entrepreneurial environment of equity capital markets where she spent several years researching the health care, consumer products and retail sectors as an equity analyst with Canada's largest independent investment dealer. Later, she created and led the investor relations program for a mid-sized Canadian software company.
Amy is a Chartered Financial Analyst, holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management, and a B.A. from the University of Toronto with an English and History double major.
A strong believer in giving back to the community, Amy is on the Board of the American Marketing Association (Toronto Chapter) and is an active volunteer with the Rotman School of Management Alumni Association and the Toronto Cricket Skating & Curling Club.
Rob Sinclair, Consultant
Rob is a seasoned strategist with experience leading major strategic initiatives across multiple business lines and functions in the retail and banking industries. Most recently, Rob served as Manager, Strategic Initiatives at a top Canadian bank where he helped develop its insurance strategy, which lead to a major acquisition. Prior to that, he was Manager, Sourcing & Supply Strategy at Canadian Tire. Rob is focused on driving value to the bottom line through aligning organizational capabilities and resources with strategy.
Rob holds a B. Comm and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management where he received the Bregman Scholar Award. Having spent several years teaching English and consulting in China, Rob achieved working fluency in Mandarin and a deep understanding of Chinese culture and business practices.
Stuart Baltman, Consultant
Stuart has over fifteen years of experience in strategic process improvement and business development. His skills help Upside clients prioritize initiatives that not only have high profit potential, but also ensures that they can be implemented successfully. Stuart has held senior roles in the healthcare and financial services industries with such companies as PwC, RBC Royal Bank and MDS Inc. Key projects that Stuart has led in recent years include the sale and subsequent separation of LifeLabs from MDS Inc., the worldwide implementation of IT infrastructure and processes (eg. ERP, document management and billing systems) and growing a major commercial loan book.
Stuart has a BA in economics from the University of Toronto, an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and holds a PMP designation. In addition, Stuart is skilled at delivering improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma tools.
Stuart is an active member of his community, serving on the Board of the Mood Disorders Association of Ontario and volunteering with Second Harvest.
