Biography of Joe Martin, F.C.M.C., LL.D. (Honoris Causa)

Joe was born and raised in small town Saskatchewan. His mother moved the family to Winnipeg after his father's death in 1950. In Winnipeg Joe attended United College (now the University of Winnipeg).

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and went to work for Monarch Life as an investment analyst. He then became Premier Roblin's Executive Assistant, a position he held for nearly five years. He then joined the Winipeg office of P.S. Ross & Partners, Management Consultants in 1966 and was transferred to Toronto in 1968.

Joe remained with what is now Deloitte until 1995, serving as Parter in Charge of Canadian Consulting and Chairman of the Global practice. In 1995 he took early retirement and joined the faculty of the Rotman School of Management. In addition to his roles as Director of Canadian Business History and Executive in Residence and Adjunct Professor at Rotman, Joe Chairs the National Business Archives of Canada, is a member of the Board of AGF Funds and Chairman of the Heritage Committee of the Albany Club
